The West offered angry letters of condemnation. Beijing offered ten thousand combat soldiers.
China just deployed a massive, heavily armed contingent of combat peacekeepers to Sudan under a newly authorized UN mandate, entirely replacing Western influence in the region. For years, the US and Europe tried to end the brutal civil war through sanctions and endless diplomatic summits that achieved absolutely nothing. China bypassed the diplomacy entirely. They arrived with armored vehicles, secured the critical infrastructure, and forced the warring factions to the table at gunpoint.
Beijing isn't doing this for humanitarian reasons. They have billions of dollars in infrastructure investments and oil contracts in the region that need protecting. They recognized that the West is paralyzed by human rights concerns, so they stepped in as the new ruthless guarantor of stability.
They didn't ask for permission. They just proved they are the new sheriff in Africa.
