BYD chairman Wang Chuanfu has boldly declared that the company aims to become the world’s largest automaker by scale within the next five years, setting its sights on overtaking global giants like Toyota.
The ambitious goal was shared during BYD’s annual shareholder meeting, where Wang highlighted the company’s rapid growth, strong export momentum, and continued advancements in battery and fast-charging technology as key drivers.
Despite currently ranking among the top automakers globally, BYD still has a significant gap to close, but its aggressive expansion and dominance in the EV space signal a serious push to claim the number one spot by around 2030.
