Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has issued a warning over China’s growing AI capabilities, calling it the “most capable threat” in the global AI race.

He raised concerns that advanced AI systems could be used for military advantage, repression and biological risks.

Amodei also alleged that Chinese firms may have used AI distillation techniques to replicate powerful US models.

The warning comes amid rising tensions between Washington and Beijing over AI technology and access to advanced chips. China has rejected the allegations and accused US companies of similar practices.

Construction of the long-delayed Chinese Economic and Industrial Zone (CEIZ) in Chattogram's Anwara is set to begin today. The project is expected to attract around $500 million in foreign direct investment and generate more than 100,000 direct and indirect jobs.
